Frequently Asked Questions

What Does a Fire Safety Patrol Do?

A fire safety patrol is responsible for closely monitoring buildings and other properties to identify potential fire-related safety risks. In some cases, they’re brought in to patrol buildings in the path of wildfires, while in others, they’re hired to patrol them when their fire detection systems are not functioning correctly.

Either way, they’re tasked with locating hazards and determining the necessary steps to eliminate them.

Who Should Hire an Emergency Fire Watch?

Companies should strongly consider hiring an emergency fire watch when they’re aware of issues with their fire alarms and/or sprinklers and wish to prevent them from causing bigger complications.

They should also consider bringing an emergency fire watch on board when their buildings are at risk due to wildfires in their area or “hot work” being performed inside them, which could increase the likelihood of fires starting.

When Is a Code-Required Fire Watch Necessary?

A code-required fire watch is necessary any time a building’s fire alarm system is offline for any reason.

Whether this system is down for maintenance, malfunctioning, or damaged, building owners in California and Nevada must invest in code-required firewatch services to remain in compliance with local rules and regulations.
